What is Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy?
My service includes both of these.
Whilst the terms are broadly interchangeable I use recognised models helps to focus on what the issues are for individuals.
There is a difference between counselling and psychotherapy.
Counselling
Counselling is usually short- term brief therapy that is based on current difficulties and how it is affecting one’s ability to function day to day.
• It helps people identify problems
• It is the best course of therapy for anyone who already has an understanding of wellbeing, and who is also able to resolve problems.
Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy focuses on working with clients longer-term and draws insight into emotional problems and difficulties. It unravels a broader range of issues.
• It helps people with problems that have built up over a long time
• It helps to understand your feelings, thoughts and actions more clearly
• It is a longer term process that identifies emotional issues and the background to problems and difficulties.
