Reflections
At this time of the year we are all expecting Christmas to be a time of joy and family gatherings. It isn’t always what we are hoping for. In fact the last year has been quite a rollercoaster for me personally. However I am putting that behind me now. Last Christmas was bittersweet as my family gave to visit from New Zealand, mainly because I had a few health issues. So I hadn’t the stamina to enjoy their visit. For them they forfeit the Summer in their country for typical winter weather in the UK. I did enjoy their visit and they made Christmas special, putting up the tree and decorations and shopping for and cooking our Christmas meal. i am missing that now the time for preparations is here.
Yet I am very grateful for their visit and it is lodged in my memory as is meeting my youngest grandchild if only briefly in June. Not to forget the several visits we made to see my 101 year aunt who is now establishing her new life in a care home and adjusting to the new regime. i have seen friends go through tough times and lost friends through illness, leaving their families bereft and grieving. I have seen others flourish and enjoy strength in adversity The circle of life keeps on turning.
The Christmas period is engrossed in glitz and glitter and is somewhat overwhelming. Psychologically it is sometimes nicer to take a back seat and reflect rather than feeling pressure to be over social, see people we only meet once a year and sometimes engage in family gatherings that turn out to become a source of stress.
So this year I look back on 2024 with gratitude to the people who have been my constant support and given encouragement during the difficult times. You know who you are.🙏🏻
In business I took a step back to ensure the work I did was still 100 percent professional but quality rather than quantity. It has been a real time of applying my motto – Think Differently.
To all family, friends and clients may I wish you all peace, health, and joy over the festive season and may 2025 bring you and yours all that you hope for in the context of personal growth and calm in this troubled global world. Peace and love.🕊️🌿
