Why Think Differently?
Many people ask me how I chose the name for my private practice.
When I wanted a name that described my belief system and my way of working I wanted something different to describe Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I remembered my son when he stood for President of the Student Union at his university. He wanted people to Think Differently and his logo was a lightbulb with a filament . Think Differently was actually a slogan used by an international company but in a different context so I combined the name and the idea for my logo.
So after a very basic design I had done myself, I asked Neil of Upbeat Design to do me a more professional theme. He was the one who came up with the lightbulb brain which is absolutely perfect to describe my business. I asked for the colours as they are my favourites.
So the concept developed. A coordinated image.
As most people know CBT , cognitive behaviour therapy encompasses changing the way you think which affects the way you feel and behave. But that not my modality. I work integratively which means the modality I choose is dependent on the client needs. Not everyone is the same so why choose just one method to help them? Hence my meaning with Think Differently. And as I want to give a personal individual connection I added my nameHence Think Differently with Maggy Jackson.
Extrapolating that to training and supervision provision I hoped that having this philosophy would bring a fresh perception on both these services. So that made me thin about the Traci way of therapy- regular one to one sessions weekly- the therapeutic hour. Thinking outside the box was the way my latest service, Therapy on Demand came about, The client is in charge, they choose the frequency and the number of sessions they require in collaboration with me. It is a more flexible way of working.it suits clients and the companies that want staff support. Coupled with the advent of online sessions on Zoom it did feel different and is working well. EMDR therapy is also a different approach used for trauma. That also has adapted to remote working too.
So the genesis of my practice came primarily from my son’s idea. Added to that the brand identity developed by Neil gave me a simple design that encompasses what I do.He also designed my website in many late night communications with me where I wrote the text and he did the magic and turned it into its present form.He still manages the site for me as I am a techno dinosaur!
